Iran, Malaysia open joint Quranic expo in Kuala Lumpur

Iran and Malaysia open Joint Quranic art exhibition in Kuala Lumpur.

Iran and Malaysia have opened a joint Quranic art exhibition in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.

Launched on Monday night, the exhibition features Quranic calligraphy works by Iranian and Malaysian artists on display at the White Box Gallery of Kuala Lumpur’s Publica Solaris Complex.

The website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) reported that the event is showcasing calligraphic works, paintings and Tazhib (illumination) works by a number of artists from both countries.

Iran’s Ambassador to Malaysia Marzieh Afkham, the country’s Cultural Attaché Ali-Mohammad Sabeqi and a number of Iranian and Malaysian scholars and university students attended the opening ceremony.

A part of the gallery is dedicated to items of calligraphy and Tazhib on Surah Yaseen of the Holy Quran. Marking the holy month of Ramadan, Iranian and Malaysian artists created them on Wednesday at a joint festival.

The Iranian Cultural Center in Malaysia organized the joint Quran festival, Islamic Calligraphy of Iranian and Malaysia Artists on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

A number of workshops and lectures on Islamic calligraphy were also slated on the sideline of the exhibition, which will run until Saturday, June 24.
